Nigel Cabourn

Well everyone, it has come to that time: the semester is over. I've decided that since this is will be my last post, I'm going to share with you one of my favourite men's designers. You're all in for a very special treat as I tend to keep these things private because I'm one of those obnoxious people who love things until they're popular. So here goes. His name is Nigel Cabourn and he's an absolute genius when it comes to menswear. The thought and detailing behind every collection continuously blows my mind. In addition to that, his passion is impossible to go by unrecognized as it is seen in his face when he speaks about his pieces. Although he does design all types of clothing, his coats are what really get me.

I've also attached a video of him speaking about his collection.

Although the prices are expensive (some coats run upwards of $1,500), the investment made in a coat designed by Nigel Cabourn is priceless to me. But hey, what do I know. I'm not Rich.

no more American Apparel?!

As i was reading a article called " 10 brands that won't be around in 2012" the report says wall st. has listed brands that will disappeared by 2012,  surprisingly,  American Apparel is one of them. As i was reading down the articles it mentioned that American Apparel reached bankruptcy earlier this year due to several decline on the sale and currency basis. Also their comparable store sale is flattered and remain loss. This is may be something American Apparel lovers should be pay attention to. Other brands that may be disappeared by 2012 are Sears, Sony Pictures,Nokia, Saab, A&W , Soap Opera Digest, Sony Ericsson, MySpace, and Kellog's Corn Pops.

Men's Fashion Bible

Hey everyone,

I'm back with my latest installment of "if I were Rich". For those of you who may have forgotten, I write along the lines of "if I were Rich, a 20 year-old guy whose name is Rich". In reality I am a 20 year-old girl whose name is Emma. Anyways, this week I'm back with a list of mistakes many men make when getting dressed via Complex Magazine. If I were Rich, I'd be paying attention to these mistakes made all too often in order to prevent myself from committing a heinous fashion crime.

Vancouver Fashion Week a Bust?

Hey Fashionistas,

Vancouver fashion week begun just a couple days ago and has already begun having problems. In the past VFW has not had great reviews and things don't seem to be turning around this year either. There have been many complaints about expensive ticket prices, untrained workers, and lack of well known industry professionals.
But the real story here is about complaints about the producer for "exploiting students and recent graduates for their well-meaning free labour, as well as exploiting emerging and established designers with sub par production". A blog was created by a group of interns working at VFW who talked about poor working conditions and hoping to help support their local designers. If we were rich would our fashion week display more class and integrity?

Why you should look forward to a never-ending winter

If I were Rich, I'd be looking no further than The North Face's Purple Label's latest collection for my upcoming winter wardrobe. There is absolutely nothing cooler than their take on outerwear. Bits and pieces are being released periodically, and each time I see new pictures of what is to come I become even more excited for the winter. I'm not entirely sure as to why I am so excited, because I'm a girl and a women's line doesn't exist. However, after further analyzation(new word. starting....now) I've come to the realization that my excitement is driven by the fact that there is potential that our approaching 3-4 months of snow might not be so terrible. Only if some Vancouver men pick up some winter coats like these, that is...

THIS IS A WINDBREAKER!!!!

Gaultier Says?

Hello Friends,

We all look up to rich and famous fashion designers and editors, but ever wonder what they think about each other? It is said that designer Jean Paul Gaultier has a few opinions of his own that have recently become public knowledge. He described Anna Wintour as"more monstrous" than Meryl Streep's harsh and cold character  in The Devil Wears Prada. When asked in an interview if Wintour was a positive figure, he simply replied with "she's a figure". Which begs the question if we were rich would we have the audacity to speak about such a major player in the fashion industry this way?

However one person he does feel deserves to be cut some slack is John Galliano. When asked about the scandal involving the anti-semetic comment, Gaultier said that it was the pressure that got to him which led to his outburst. He went on to talk about how talented he felt Galliano is and hopes he returns to fashion soon.
