I thought it would be helpful to give you all a little introduction as to who I am, and what my contribution to our blog is. Firstly, my name's Emma and I'll be doing our menswear posts from here on out. To stick with our "If We Were Rich" theme, I'll be writing along the lines of if I were "Rich", a 20 year-old guy. Let me also make it very clear to you that while I love men's fashion, I love Christian Louboutin and really sappy "romantic" reality TV just as much. So I am in fact a very typical, well-adjusted girl who expresses her femininity daily. For me, it’s the chase of a challenge because it’s clothing that I can never wear myself. Anyways, after a rather lengthy, and thorough introduction full of justifications, let me begin my post on what's been catching my eye lately as far as menswear - fashion in hip hop. I was watching RapCity on MuchMusic a couple days ago, and they showed this clip of Leaders Of The New School from ‘92. What caught my attention was all of their outfits, and how contemporary they still are almost 20 years later. (P.S. How cute is Busta Rhymes’ turtleneck!?)
If I were Rich, I'd be looking to fashion hip-hop heavyweights such as Kanye West, Pharrell, Andre 3000, Tyler The Creator, Drake and Mac Miller for fashion inspiration.
Kanye West - Perfection. Nothing needs to be added, nor subtracted from this outfit.
Pharrell - A Canadian tuxedo and teal boat shoes have never looked so good.
Andre 3000 - He's actually just way too cool for me to even dissect his outfit.
Tyler The Creator(Right) - I admire anyone who can make a Hawaiian shirt and tube socks paired together look good.
Drake - The luxury of an Hermès belt is not lost in this ensemble of dark denim, a hoodie and Red Wing boots.
Mac Miller - A cuffed jean with argyle socks is pure brilliance to me.
And lastly, just because this might be one of my favourite photos of all time....
(It's my desktop background. I'm not kidding.)
